Dry needling is an effective way in reducing muscle tension and getting rid of trigger points. Using small acupuncture needles that are solid is what makes dry needling ‘dry’. Trigger point injections are used in the same way but inject a numbing agent. They are larger needles and have the same effect as dry needling unless a steroid is used. The most common area for headaches are muscles at the base of the skull and in the neck and upper shoulder. This video shows a treatment to the upper neck muscles.
